New Zealand here we come

So thats work all done and now just 48 hours left until we start our journey to New Zealand on the trip of a lifetime. Our plans once we arrive in New Zealand on Friday morning (Thurs PM UK) are to spend 4 days with Linda’s son Chris and his family including her first grandson Reilly. Next Tuesday we collect a hire car and head off on a 9 day road trip as follows:

Day 1 – Drive from Aukland to Turangi via Rotarua

Day 2 – A 20km hike up a volcano and across thermal pools.

Day 3 – A long driving day down to Wellington to catch the ferry across to the south island. From here we make our way to Havelock.

Day 4 – A steady drive to Punakaiki via Nelson and taking in the pancake rocks

Day 5 – Coastal drive through the gold town of Hokitiki then on to Fox Glacier for a woodland walk along the bottoms of Franz Joseph glacier. After our evening meal we will then walk down to the shores of Lake Matheson to take in allegedly on of the best sunsets on the planet. Praying for clear skies

Day 6 – Moving down next to Arrowotown then onto Queenstown, the thrill seeking capaital of the world and where bungee jumping was invented.

Day 7 – Possibly my highlight of the trip, a coach and cruise around Milford Sound

Day 8 – and heading across the island to Omarau to see its victorian streets and steampunk museum.

Day 9 – Last day on the road trip sees us drive to Dundein, the scottish influenced town of New Zealand. Late in the afternoon we take a flight back to Auckland.

Once back in Auckland we spend another 4 days with Chris and his family before starting the long journey back home.

This blog will hopefully be updated daily to give you a taste of our travels
