My 2017 Challenge for Pendleside Hospice
Well after a year off from fundraising I’ve decided I’m gonna try and do a bit more for the amazing Pendleside Hospice. So far in 4 years and 3 previous challenges I have raised a total of £2330 and my mission is to try and get that to £10,000 as soon as i can. This year i am planning to hit my 100th half marathon and thought it was such a huge achievement for myself, that it was worth raising some money on the back of. So what would the challenge be? Well after much thought (and about a month late) I have finally come up with the itinerary.

In similar style to my last challenge, I am going to theme it on the year of 2017. So here are the main points of the challenge.
Run & Walk a total of 2017 kilometres throughout the year
- This works out at 1254 miles or 105 miles per month or 24 miles per week or 3.5 miles every day
Take on 20 sub challenges throughout the year
- Run 17 Half Marathons
- Run the Loch Ness Marathon on September 24th
- Walk 30 miles along the Panopticon Trail. Starting from Colourfields in Blackburn, to Halo in Haslingdon, Singing Ringing Tree in Burnley and finishing at Atom in Wycoller.
- Walk and run the Yorkshire 3 Peaks as a 40 mile 5 peaks alternative in under 17 hours. This involves doing the standard route of Penyghent, Whernside and Ingleborough but rather than head down to Horton, I will turn around and retrace my steps back up Whernside and Penyghent before finishing at the cafe in Horton-In-Ribblesdale.
Complete my 100th Half Marathon
- If all goes to plan this will be in Conwy on November 19th and hopefully Ill be joined by as many of my fellow Trawden AC friends as possible for a big party afterwards.
I think that should be enough but I may drop a few things extra in just to try and squeeze a few more pennies from you all 😀 http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/GD2017
The challenge runs from January 1st to December 31st so in effect I’ve already started and as of writing this post I have completed 99 miles. This means I need to start pushing myself a bit harder as I’m already 17 miles behind the target at this point. I will shortly be starting a blog to record my journey through the year but until then you can keep up to date with my progress on Facebook and on my web site http://graden.org.uk
So Ive got my legs moving, could I PLEASE PLEASE ask you to spare some of you hard earned cash and donate securely here to a very worthy cause in Pendleside Hospice http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/GD2017
Many Thanks in advance to every one who helps and sponsors me, you are all brilliant 😀
