Day 3 – Parkrun Tourism & Musuem

So what do you do at 8am in Auckland the day after travelling 25 hours on a plane? Thats right folks, run a Parkrun. We woke up to torrential rain but that didn’t put us off and made our way down to Western Springs park in the centre of Auckland. By the time we got there we were drenched but ready to go….well except that I had just made the dumb mistake of leaving my barcode back in my room. A quick discussion (and a bit of grovelling) with the Parkrun organiser and it was agreed that i could email her a photo of my barcode later that day. So of we went both running very steady together for 3 laps around a beautiful park and lake. We clocked a time of 29:57 and then went for a brew with our new found Parkrun buddies. The rain showed no signs of letting up so we decided a trip to the Auckland Museum was our best option. Some great Maori history in there and tributes the heroes of both World Wars. After leaving the Museum the weather suddenly and unexpectedly turned great again. It really is so unpredictable here in Auckland and makes it hard to plan anything. We headed in to town and took a stroll along the harbour where we saw the strange sight of a guy walking his pet goats around. We then started picking out which yacht we would be getting once we win the lottery. As thats unlikely to happen, we will carry on with our trip as scheduled tomorrow.
